Fridtjof Nansen and the Marketing of Polar Heroism in Victorian Britain

I am delighted that, by sheer coincidence, my first academic piece on Nansen has been published today on the 96th anniversary of his death. Entitled ‘Fridtjof Nansen and the Marketing of Polar Heroism in Victorian Britain’ and published with the Journal of Victorian Culture Online (May 2026), it examines how Nansen became a transnational celebrity in late Victorian Britain and how his image was exploited within commercial culture.
